Aim and Scope
The Archives of Palliative Care and Medicine is a peer-reviewed journal dedicated to promoting and advancing the field of palliative care and medicine. Our journal aims to provide a platform for researchers, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to share their knowledge, insights, and experiences related to palliative care, with the ultimate goal of improving patient outcomes and quality of life.
The scope of the Archives of Palliative Care and Medicine encompasses a wide range of topics within the field of palliative care, including, but not limited to:
1. Symptom management: Research and clinical studies focused on effective approaches for managing pain, dyspnea, fatigue, nausea, and other distressing symptoms commonly experienced by patients with life-limiting illnesses.
2. Psychosocial support: Examination of the psychological, social, and emotional aspects of palliative care, including studies on coping strategies, grief and bereavement, communication, and family dynamics.
3. Spiritual care: Exploration of the role of spirituality, religion, and existential concerns in palliative care, as well as interventions and approaches to addressing patients' spiritual needs.
4. End-of-life decision making: Ethical considerations, advance care planning, shared decision making, and legal aspects related to end-of-life care, including topics such as euthanasia, assisted suicide, and withdrawal of life-sustaining treatments.
5. Palliative care in specific populations: Research focusing on palliative care for specific patient populations, such as children, older adults, individuals with dementia, and those from diverse cultural backgrounds.
6. Palliative care in different settings: Studies and evaluations of palliative care services in various settings, including hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, and community-based care.
7. Education and training: Educational resources, including review articles and clinical guidelines, aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of healthcare professionals working in palliative care.
8. Health policy and advocacy: Discussions on policy issues, healthcare systems, financing models, and advocacy efforts related to palliative care at regional, national, and international levels.
We encourage original research articles, systematic reviews, clinical studies, case reports, and editorials that address these topics and contribute to the evidence base and understanding of palliative care. We also welcome interdisciplinary approaches that bridge the gap between palliative care and other fields, such as oncology, geriatrics, psychology, nursing, and ethics.
The Archives of Palliative Care and Medicine is committed to fostering collaboration, promoting innovation, and disseminating evidence-based knowledge in palliative care. By providing a platform for the exchange of ideas and best practices, we aim to contribute to the ongoing improvement of palliative care globally and ultimately improve the lives of patients and their families.
