Percutaneous Ultrasound Guided Catheter Aspiration of the Allurion Gastric Balloon as a Non-Endoscopic Salvage Technique: Case Report
Abstract
We describe a case in which an Allurion gastric balloon required urgent deflation due to symptomatic complications. The patient declined standard endoscopic removal under general anesthesia. A novel, non-invasive approach – percutaneous ultrasound-guided catheter aspiration – was performed, enabling complete deflation and natural passage of the balloon while avoiding general anesthesia and endoscopy. This technique offers a potential salvage option for select patients requiring urgent gastric balloon decompression.
